Description
Love Apptually is a new work by artist Karen Francis developed from the famous Philadelphia "city of brotherly love" statue shape, and an app collage feature, with her digital artworks based on the fountain at the Memphis Botanical Gardens. And the title is a play on a movie of a similar name. When ordered online, these professionally printed art prints and products on fineartamerica and pixels come with a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee. Travel guides to Philly note: "Robert Indiana debuted the design for his famous sculpture as a painting in 1964. After constructing the aluminum piece, Indiana lent it to the City of Philadelphia as part of the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976.
LOVE remained in John F. Kennedy Plaza for two years.
The sculpture moved briefly to New York until a local businessman bought it and donated it to Philadelphia. In February 2018 — after a year away from public view — the sculpture returned with a new color scheme of red, blue and purple instead of blue.
An iconic image synonymous with Philadelphia, the piece’s likeness has been recreated on items ranging from postage stamps to jewelry."
The sculpture is now located in what is known as Love Park, a popular destination for tourist photographs.
And as the Inquirer notes, "U.S. stamp
It was never just a sculpture — LOVE was originally designed as a Christmas card for New York's Museum of Modern Art in 1965, and became a popular stamp in 1973, according to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum."
Other language versions of the sculpture were created in Hebrew for Israel and in Spanish for Spain. And the granddaddy of them all is noted to be in Indiana.
