Tom Lee Monument Print
The obelisk built in 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee, was to memorialize the heroic acts of one Tom Lee who in 1925 saved the lives of 32 people, pulling them from the Mississippi River though he couldn’t even swim himself.
The granite obelisk was installed in the Riverfront Park two years after his death from cancer. In 2017 the memorial was knocked down by a storm. (I thought it was repaired, but recent siting of it show only the base there.) This Tom Lee obelisk monument is shown in a couple of videos on the artist's YouTube channel called blessings427. One video where you can catch a glimpse of it is called "Down by the Riverside" and the other is about the Hanrahan Bridge Pedestrian path.
